D1: Design



Create a thoughtful, relevant gift that is nice enough to impress decision makers at brands like Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo. It had to be extremely well crafted, BUT couldn’t look too expensive and therefore be accidentally perceived as a bribe.


After extensive concepting, inspirational shopping and research, we came up with the “Urban Survival Kit” because all of the decision makers that this piece was intended for, spend large amounts of time traveling to oversee luxury retail store builds.


Working with a true craftsman of wood, we built mahogany boxes with slide tops and finger joints. We then had the covers direct-printed, created custom-cut foam inserts to fit our unique items and laser etched and/or custom packaged many of the items. We also wrote and printed a fun guide to everything that was included in the kit and why it was useful and related back to D1 and the great work they do. To top it all off, the kits were different for the men and women.
