Overview

The Epilepsy Foundation New England (EFNE) relies on dedicated volunteers to provide education, support and connection for individuals and families living with epilepsy. To grow its volunteer network and increase awareness of these vital community-based programs, the CDC Foundation and EFNE partnered to highlight the real people making a difference.

We showcased volunteers serving in meaningful public health roles, demonstrating how compassion, education, and one-on-one support can improve lives while inspiring others to get involved.

Seed Factory created a documentary-style video series that brought the stories to life.

Approach

The most powerful stories come from real experiences.

Our team worked closely with EFNE to identify volunteers whose personal journeys and community involvement reflected the organization’s mission. Through thoughtful interviews and cinematic B-roll, we captured authentic moments that illustrated the relationships volunteers build with individuals and families living with epilepsy.

Seed managed the project from concept through final delivery. Rather than focusing on the organization itself, each story highlighted the volunteers whose commitment helps strengthen communities every day. Each video features volunteers serving in public health and community support roles, sharing why they chose to give their time and the impact they’ve witnessed firsthand.

The stories highlighted:

  • Volunteers providing education and support to individuals and families living with epilepsy
  • Personal motivations for serving their communities
  • The importance of peer connection and advocacy
  • The meaningful relationships built through volunteer service
  • The lasting impact volunteers have on improving quality of life for others

Together, the videos demonstrated that volunteers are at the heart of EFNE’s mission, helping families navigate challenges while building stronger, more informed communities.

Results

The video series provided EFNE with storytelling assets that continue to support volunteer recruitment, fundraising and community outreach.

The content is used to:

  • Recruit new volunteers
  • Increase awareness of EFNE’s community programs
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement
  • Educate healthcare partners and community organizations
  • Share authentic stories across digital and social media
  • Demonstrate the impact of volunteer-led public health initiatives

By focusing on the people behind the mission, the videos inspire others to become involved and reinforce the commitment to improving the lives of those affected by epilepsy.
